MISSION STATEMENT: For Theatre
Our mission is to create an inclusive performing arts community where students can learn, grow, and connect through singing, dancing, acting, and music. We believe the performing arts have the power to unite us. Here, everyone is welcome to explore their creativity, build confidence, and share in the joy of performance. Together, we strive to nurture a supportive environment where passion, expression, and artistry bring us closer as a community.

Play: Gossip
Premise: Gossip is personified as a human being. They attend high school and quickly meet all the students at the school as the new person. There are 6 major roles in this play and an ensemble. Almost all scenes take place in a high school hallway with one scene being in a hospital room. As “Gossip” spreads around the school the students begin to change and treat each other poorly but all think “Gossip” to be amazing. As students begin to reach a breaking point and seem to only trust “Gossip” a breakthrough is made. Where is the evidence? Students begin to make connections that everything “Gossip” has ever said to them was not the complete truth but actually twisted to benefit “Gossip”. The moral of the story is that Gossip is NOT real and should not be trusted or taken as truth.
Auditions: August 26th in Room 83 at 3:45pm
Rehearsal Schedule: Every Tuesday after school from 3:45pm to 4:45pm, rehearsals will be extended the week before show week. Rehearsals will begin September 2nd.

Visuals/Costumes For the Show:

Students are dressed casually as if it were a normal day in public school. One student’s outfit should stand out, Gossip, she will be wearing red.

Another example of costume idea, everyone begins wearing white but will slowly add red to their outfit as Gossip’s influence over them spreads.

There are different set designs in each image, the first has a set that looks like a classroom on one side and a hallway with lockers on the other side. The second set has boxes for actors to sit or stand on providing levels. The last set uses chairs for the actors to interact with and has a plain black background.
End of Play Proposal

Play: Romeo and Juliet an original 60s adaptation with modern dialogue
Premise: Montagues will be dressed as greasers from the 60s and Capulets dressed as Jocks. Students will use switchblade combs as weapons envisioning them as knives. We have a lot of freedom with adapting this play since it’s in the public domain and we don’t need to purchase rights or licensing to perform it. Students will be encouraged to develop their character the way they would imagine a jock or greaser acting. Parents of Romeo and Juliet will dress in vintage Sunday best wear of the time period, father’s in suits and mother’s in dresses.
Audition Schedule: TBD
Rehearsal Schedule: Every Tuesday after school from 3:45pm to 4:45pm, rehearsals will be extended the week before show week.
